Misc. Burton / Burton Trilogy
Fri, 18 Sep 2009, 02:35
Okay, so, I know that Batman 89 is suppose to be viewed as a standalone Batman feature, but how do you think a Burton trilogy would have turned out if trilogies had been the norm back then?  What if Burton and Keaton would have been hired from the get-go to do a planned trilogy?  I think that would have been very interesting.  Any thoughts?

Wow...I am truly impressed.  My Batman brothers and sisters think alike when it comes to great movies.  My favorites are:

- All the Batman movies...obviously (Hey, you have to like the good with the bad!), but mostly Mask of the Phantasm, Batman 89, Begins, and the Dark Knight

-Ghostbusters (My favorite movie)
-Terminator 1 and 2 (#2 more so, but you gotta love what Cameron was able to do with a low budget original)
-Back to the Future
-Die Hard
-Raiders of the Lost Ark
-Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-Tombstone
-Groundhog Day
-Kingpin
-The Lion King
-Robocop
-Conan the Barbarian
-Toy Story
-Who Framed Roger Rabbit
-Spider-Man 1 & 2
-A Fish Called Wanda

I wish I could have seen this movie in theaters as an adult.  I was 4 years old when my dad took me to see it.  It was the first movie I ever remember seeing at my local cinema.  God I loved it!  This segment brought back a lot of memories.  Thanks for posting it.

Terminator 1 & 2

Agreed...the last thing we need is Robin.  To be honest, I've never really cared for the character.  I know he's an important character in the Batman universe, but I prefer the Dark Knight to work alone.

I actually think Alec Baldwin would have made a great Bruce Wayne and Batman.  It's easy to say that he wouldn't have been able to top Keaton, but lets remember that Michael Keaton was not the ideal candidate then.  I'm thankful for his sincere performance, but if not for Tim Burton...I don't think Keaton would have been cast.

As for Depp,  I can't stand him as Captain Jack (Okay, in the first one he was good, but damn he was really annoying in the sequels!), but I think he's a good actor.  I see him more as a villain than as the Batman.

My thoughts exactly...Mask of the Phantasm is amazing!

I sure hope that one day soon this series will be released on DVD or Blu Ray.  It's a classic.  For those of you who think it is a mockery of the Dark Knight, you should realize that it helped keep Batman popular at a time when the Batman comics were not selling.  In fact, if memory serves, I remember reading an article about Bob Kane and the series, and Mr. Kane mentioned that had the series not been a success, the Batman comics would have been canceled.

Although it may not be the "Dark Knight."  It has just as much right to be called "Batman" as any of the movies or animated cartoons.
