Batman (1989) / Re: Can't find Blu ray??!

Just a rumor at some of the bluray sites, but evidently the steelbooks will be on sale for $9.99 at best buy as well for the first week.
This sale will coincide with the final week of the trade in program, which will make each release 5 bucks!

But the sale price in just a rumor at the moment, last year WB had a wave of these rerelease steelbooks for other titles and Best Buy
had the same deal, so maybe they are betting/hoping it will happen again.

In the states, Best Buy currently has the 89-97 films for 9.99 each on blu.

To sweeten the deal, if you bring in any old dvd (up to 5 per day), they will give you a $5 coupon off any movie $9.99 or more.
So you could potentially get all four films on blu for 20 bucks!

I wish I could watch that in higher quality! WB mucked up not giving us this on DVD or BLU.
Fox included the aliens ride footage on the Aliens blu, what gives!

Also check out the first ad at the start of this video! Awesome model work! Love this ad (also the rest of the video features a 1992 interview with Keaton)

No, I think what ScissorPuppy is saying is that they were already transfered to HD (as in Blu-ray etc) but the SEDVDs were taken (and downgraded from that).

It's common practise.

Bingo, They have been doing it since around 2000, and has become common/the norm since around 2002. They started planning for the HDTV scene at the start of the decade. The new dvd's are a downgraded image of the HD master they made. They may have even made a 4k master.

I'm not as up on all this stuff as I probably should be but given the vintage of the Burton films, I wouldn't expect too much of an upgrade.  In fact, there's a sense in which they might look worse since HD exposes a level of clarity that would've been unheard of when Burton made those films... so matte paintings, models and other effects might come off looking a lot worse than they originally did.

They won't look any worse than they did in the theater, film/film prints have somewhere around 4 times the resolution of HD. I'm sure the films will look great, they made HD masters in 2005, it's the same source that the SE DVD's came from. It will just be clearer, also unless the screw it up with DNR, you'll see more grain. In the case of 89, well that was a grainy film. If grain is something that bothers you, stick to the dvd.

Took a stabb at what a possible "forever-eqse" marketing would look like. In that Forever ( Returns/B&R did this aswell) had character posters. Again, guys I LOVE the symbol only artwork, these are just for fun. Personally All my Batman DVDs have custom cover art that only features the symbols. Even Begins. To me, the symbol is everything batman is.

Anyways, here are the 89 "Character" posters. Would love to find decent high rez pics Vale, Gorden, Bob and even Dent to complete this set.

I would have atleast liked to have seen a feature on the 89 or Returns dvd, were Burton disscussed what his ideas were. Other than " I had some ideas, but um ya know WB acted like they didn't want me back, so I decided against it." I'm sure Burton had some idea of what he was going to do for Batman 3.
At the very least I'd like to hear about it.
