Messages - Batman Beyond

Also agreed with both posts.

Asylum is better story-wise, and even performance-wise, especially for Hamill, whose pitch-note perfect in it. The atmosphere and mood is also more akin to the Batman world than not, and the setting of the Asylum gives it a fitting claustrophobic aspect. It also gives a Batman VS. Joker fight that, while outlandish, is still pretty neat in execution.

City is the more epic of the two, and story-wise is still full of goodness, what with Paul Dini writing it. But as mentioned by , its not as tightly constructed plot-wise. But are character-driven, but the situations in City seem to be all over the place. Like, for instance, the Batman-R'as Al Ghul fight really makes more sense, thematically, after he's revealed to be Strange's benefactor. Sure, as it is you might not think of Ra's involvement in the story, but on repeat playings you feel as if you've played the end of the game too soon.

That said, City is a great game anyhow, and as a game, City trumps Asylum as a sequel and as a stand-alone feature. Its insanely replayable, and the free-roam on the city is endlessly enjoyable. And I love the side-missions - and two of them could also serve as the basis for the next game, which I hope there will be one (sequel, that is).

So, Asylum is the better story, with the better direction/mood/atmosphere, but City is a better game, as said. But it still is nice to play them both. :D

Any comics at all that could, in a manner of speaking, also take place in the continuity set up by Burton's B89 and BR (and maybe BF)?

I remember a fellow who once argued that a Catwoman story could've been set in the Burtonverse, and rather easily too... I can't remember the title, but it was from her own series, I think.

ANyway, any suggestions?

Actually, thats one of the scenes that I envision Keaton actually doing, with the same nervousness that he exhibited in B89's ballroom scene. In fact, I think Kilmer borrowed from Kaeaton quite a bit, right to clothing - what he wears in the scene when Dick Grayson first arrives, is exactly what I envision Keaton would wear, because its of similar style to what he wore in the scene in BR, when he exposes Penguin to the Gothamites.

Which of the two do you prefer? The 2009 runaway surprise videogame masterpiece, or the epic and, arguably equally good continuance released in 2011?

I seriously hope Rocksteady keep on with Batman on videogames. I like the idea of a Silver Age Batman, sounds interesitng.

That said, I think it shoudl be unconnected to the Arkham games. I think that they should wait a bit for the next Arkham game, to make that into a decent trilogy of its own, without connection to any other Rocksteady-developed games.

Thats just my two cents, anwyays.

Re: Keaton in BF....

Absolutely! Keaton would not be better at the role than Kilmer, whose work isn't unnoticed, but he would also bring precious continuity with him. The storyline with the Red Diary kinda depends on being familiar with the previous films, despite the end product of BF being a stand-alone feature, seemingly.

So yeah, it'd have been great. Much like Christopher Reeve returning for SIII and SIV, he'd have been a highlight for the movies, as he never gave a bad performance as Bats.

Somewhere near the top of the list would be putting the sequence of scenes in the order laid out by the script. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Right?
I think that'd be the first thing that'd need to be done.

Well, that, and getting rid of the Batmobile-on-the-wall action sequence. :D

PS: Good to see you, colorsblend. I still have a link to one of your signatures.

Oh wow.  First, colorsblend comes back.  Then zDBZ, then greggbray, and now Batman Beyond.  It's a reunion!  Great to see you here!
Only thing we need now is SHATM, and we can all go to hell!

:D

Actually, all we need is bat lugosi and Shadowman, and then the circle will be complete.

But, as gregg said, great to see old friend back. Its been awhile. :)

A LONG time ago, I did a similar thread at BOF, detailing and cataloguing fans' desired edits that they'd wish to do for a BF re-edit that'd make the film better and improve on the overall product a good deal.

I am thinking of posting over some of the suggestions, including my own, because I think this place would be a more interesting place to do this exercize than over there.

In the meantime, if you have any immediate suggestions, do bring them up. Remember, out of BF and B&R, the former could still be improved! :)

Nah. Its just that I know a lot of the posters from around here from waaaayy back from BOF. BatmAngelus was among them, as is gregg.
