I'm working on the back at the moment, still trying to get the profile just right...and also trying to get everything clean and accurate...I'm really learning that taking breaks away from something that you are trying to copy works great...gives your eyes a chance to rest and also allows your mind to pick out flaws a lot easier..I'm headed up to NYC in a few eeks to have a bodycast made so I can begin work on the suit...but in mthe meantime here are a few pics of the cowl so far

Hi Reevz,
I was browsing your site earlier today. Fantastic stuff. I wish I was as creative as that! Are you getting a body cast of yourself made? What does that involve?
Love the face on this one. Much sharper. How do you plan on doing the texturing? If you are.

thanks for the compliments, I just wish I had more time to devote to sculpting...next year I'll have 10 times more updates for the site..keep watching ;)
and as for the bodycast...I'm actually going to be using a friend of mine at the subject for the bodycast...it's a pretty involved process, and will require a small team of people to get it don..but once I get it finished I'll being on the armor right away ;}

thanks bro..I am in talks right now with someone who owns a piece of the real deal 89 cape to have them make me a texture stamp so I can use it on the scallops and neck area....I'm hoping that doesn't fall through..but I'll get that texture on there one way or the other

Dude, how awesome would that be! I never really noticed, is the texture on the scallops and neck the same as the cape?
yep, the texture on the cowl were from the cape
Nice! I've always loved the '89 cowl, it looks really medieval, which is great because he is the Dark Knight. Anyway, really well done!

Shawn how big will hiis be??
should fit like my last 89..but since this is the 1st time sculpting on this armature I'm going to have to actually cast one and see.
been workin' on the profile..and I'll have my real deal texture stamp for the scallops hopefully in a few weeks

That is so awesome dude. I think I'll have to get one soon ;)
It would be great if you could make a video diary of the cowl and suit being made.
This one is really turning out great, Shawn. You may just have the definitive 89 cowl here.

I so like that bud. It looks awesome. 8)
the sculpt is pretty much finished, just waiting on my 89 cape texture stamp to finish it off...here's a few pics I took with my camera phone...

That looks great. Cant wait to see the texturing.
well, after I sealed the sculpt , I noticed the stamp texture didn't really come through like I thought...some areas look a lot better than others, but I should have pressed harder on the stamp to make the texture a little more vivid...oh well, I'm still pretty happy with the result ....I'll start molding tomorrow ...

Have you done a pull on this yet? Howd everything turn out?
a pull?
a "pull" is the actual latex or urethane wearable item that is from the mold which is made from the sculpt. ;D

Looks really good. It may be more accurate, but my personal prefernce is still your #2 cowl. At some point tho, I would like to add this to my collection.
ya know, I've put them side by siade and I really think that as good as the #2 cowl is/was THIS is the 89 I'm most proud of currently...and I must say that this cowl would probably fit you much better than the #2....once I get a cast of my own head I'll resculpt one so it fits me perfectly.
You may be right. You should just go ahead send me one and let me see. lol
who's 89 did ya get ?
oh wow, that's a great cowl..I have one myself and it is awesome, it's just really, REALLY big on my head ;D
The Cowl Rocks. So much it makes me sad.
I want that cowl, I still dont even have an 89 cowl which is the #1 thing I want on my list.
gimme a shout anytime..I think I may be able to help you ;)

::edit::
sent you an email ;)
Say Reevz, is one of the busts shown this thread by any chance your newly sculpted 1989 cowl?
http://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43506
I once saw a Keaton cowl master copy at a props site I was going to buy but proved far too expensive. Just have to sculpt one myself. Shame as I really wanted the most accruate cowl available. I could maybe practise on a 1/4 scale cowl first (mini bust).
did you happen to have a pic of the hardcopy?? I would love to see that
Go to www.yourprops.com :)
It should be on there somewhere, just do a search for Batman props. There was also an old studio 3ft Batmobile made by a fan/collector from an old mould, but looked badly warped and didn't hear much back about it anyway. :(
I looked but didn't see it on there...maybe it was sold already :(
Just looked myself and can't find it anywhere either. :( I remember the owner asking for hundreds or quite possibly over ?1000 for it.
