WHAT A SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL OF US '89 FANS!!!

Well, what else could they do? I mean, it's hard to market a cell phone being sewn into the stomach. ;D
Know what's worse? They used an Asian model too. Wonder if the photogapher had a thing for the goon with the swords during the alley attack?!
Yep, what a dumbass move on the company. I thought at first that we were going to get a real treat from SOMEBODY for the film's anniversary, and then they pull this sh*t!
I would be pretty sure that WB played a major role in that jacket being TDK orientated....
I posted this somewhere else on the forum. I think the jacket is cool. It's a modern update. However, it's beside the point. It's just an imitation of the real thing.
Ledger's Joker goons didn't wear these, but Nicholson's Joker goons did. If they were going to do something like this, why couldn't just they sell the original jacket design for the anniversary?!
Ugh. Slap in the face indeed. Taking a Burton item and claiming it for their own.
ugh. i would have worn one from the movie. i doubt they come in my size though. well i'm the same size as the japanese guy prolly so i could use his. lol.

Odd mesh ... but yeah ... not at all surprised that a image of Heath's Joker was chosen for the jacket rather than Jack. I'm sure WB feels, and perhaps rightly so, that Ledger's Joker image would be more overall marketable at this time than Nicholson's Joker.
:-X
Yep, it's purely business strategy.
Slap to the face, No! More like kick to the Balls!!!!
Dave wanted to do exact replicas. I sent him my Jacket for the pattern, WB wouldn't let him.
Not UDs fault, look to WB. At least this way the patches can be replaced and we 89ers will have an exact replica.

What gets me is that they never had to put any actor's face on it. It was only a drawing of the thinner comic Joker. I hate out with the old and in with the new.

My thoughts exactly.
Seriously, would it be too much to ask to have a couple look like the ones for the movie? I would buy BOTH versions of the jacket (purple and black) if they were the correct versions. I've been waiting my whole life for one of those things! I thought it'd be funny to be a Joker Goon for Halloween. If the patch were to be corrected, you'd also have to fix the cards on the shoulders. Like it was mentioned earlier, it's not really Nicholson's face. It's more like the Killing Joke's Joker. Look at the cards on the real jacket's shoulders. It's the card from the back of the book (with no Batman, of course). It could EASILY be sold to a real Joker fan. Why does it have to be Ledger? I was never someone who really got into the whole Burton vs. Nolan thing, but this has REALLY SET ME OFF!!!
Darrell..who is that in your avatar?
Me, silly! Who's in yours? Just kidding!

Understandable ... however WB probably felt that going with a image of Ledger's Joker would be their best bet (which is understandable as well). Wouldnt want the majority of the teens, and young adults which this is more or less marketed to saying, "Aww .. if Ledger was on here I would have bought it!"
Would have been nice to have atleast had a limited amount of jackets much more in tune with the '89 movie for sale, instead of simply going only with this '89/TDK mesh ... but apparently that just wasnt going to happen.
:-X
I don't think that this type of jacket is what the teenage crowd is really eyeing at, unless they're tying to be posers from the 80's (like those dumbass disheveled t-shirts). The only other person I know who has a jacket like that is my older brother in his mid-20's.
The purple jacket is the sort of item that would only appeal to a fan of B89 - someone who actually gets the intent of the garment!
Are they both you Darrell? Double jeopardy!
Right so, ral.
One of them is Reverse-Darrell. lol

Personally, I find theres a good number of teens/young adults who will take a second look at
any type of jacket pertaining to TDK, or Ledger's Joker. I mean really .... seeing something like this being sold at a store like Hot Topic wouldnt be the least bit surprising.
That jacket's not going to be at Hot Topic, dude.

I said
something like this. NOT the exact same jacket, chief.
I think the face from the original patch was from The Laughing Fish, not TKJ

Yes, it was said earlier.
I think alot of people that are fans of the new one or both are not going to like it either anyways. It would make no sense to fanboys and typical fans of TDK and would agree that it alienates both series, or at least makes no sense and doesn't fit.
I think it's just a wrong move in the long run bussines-wise as you got the closest quality to the film with these.
It's a horrible move as they may already have clown get ups you can make from peices for TDK and the only one Burton's gets is one fused with the newer looking Joker.

And the beat goes on.
Everyone has different taste, and no doubt there will be some fans who dig this mesh between the two. Though with Ledger's image being used, I would have expected a completely original jacket to be produced rather than that of a odd homage to Batman 1989 with TDK images. Oh well.
AS PJ already stated, the original intention of the jacket was to be a direct 89 replicia. Unfortunately for the company producing it, they have to deal with WB licences...which WB would not issue unless it had TDK images.
Very dissappointing move from WB - highlighting their ignorance and lack of respect for a much beloved and financially rewarding movie from yester-year.
I agree this is rape of the original jacket. It should have been a tribute to the original film. Plus the goons never had joker cards on their arm, but an array of playing cards depicting their rank within the criminal orginisation.
But, the jackets in the film were blue wern't they, not purple??

What in God's holy name are you blathering about? ;D
The patch doesn't even look good, and I think that the target group that pays money for Ledger-related merchandise would never walk within a 20 m radius of this type of Jacket.. To my eyes it's like mixing classic rock with-what-modern-16-year-olds-listen, alienating older and younger audiences.

WB wants to pretend the other films "don't exist"! Otherwise we would have gotten that 2-disc release of the only real Batman music ever composed, but NOOOOO, instead we get an almost complete Dark Knight a few flippin' month or so after that film comes out!
I want one!........... ;D
