I know that most people who are fans of Batman '89 aren't too crazy about the Prince songs used in the film, but I have always enjoyed them. I have a soft spot for them because they played them at my school dances. The main three were Partyman, Trust and Scandalous. The Future, Electric Chair & Vicki Waiting were also featured, but were barely heard in the film. It's hard to pick a favorite for me, so I was wondering what everyone else thinks.
I like them all except scandalous.
Partyman would be my favorite. Trust would be #2. I never disliked Prince's songs in Batman myself. I think they fit the mood of the scenes they were used in.
Partyman is probably the most memorable, folowed by Trust. However my personal fave from the soundtrack is Electric Chair, then Batdance!lol
As most said, Partyman
My Favorite would have to be "Scandalous".
I love all the record, but my favorite is "The Future"

Right on!
Scannnnnnnnn-daaaa-laaaaassss!
partyman is my fave too, everytime i listen to it I always think about the joker dancing
I love 'The Future'.
"go...go...go...with a smile!!!"
Some may claim Prince doesn't belong in a Batman film, but to me, it's perfect for this film. In a way I'm not sure how to explain, it just fits with the very unique feel of the film.
Frankly, I'd rather them not be there. I doubt Burton would have had them there if he had full control. Anyway, I'll go with either Partyman or Trust, I suppose.
i like scadelous and the one during the museum pain ting modification.
I love the Prince soundtrack. I also think that the music in 89 is fitting for all the scenes.
I love Partyman, I got a created wrestler in one of my video games who has it as his entrance music, and as his gimmick.
I know it's The Joker, but I think the Prince songs add a certain ammount of cheese to the film.
Face to Face, performed by Siouxsie & the Banshees in Batman Returns is a lot better.
Batdance
I like the future best.

Agreed on all points, particularly about Siouxsie & the Banshees. It perfectly fits everything BR was going for with Batman and Catwoman.
I also agree, Face to Face was certainly the MOST fitting song to find its way into a Batman film.
Have to say, even tho this song was released before Batman Forever, and was used for it, I quite like Kiss From A Rose, and it perfectly fits the Batman character I think.

Kiss From A Rose is my favorite Batman song, even though it doesn't feature in the film. Funny, because it's the best part of the film. Seal is brilliant.

Same though i also like the U2 song.
U2's music video for this track makes Batman Forever look like a much better movie.
Still, the Banshees track is the all-time favorite Bat-song, it even integrates parts of the score.
I liked the U2 track as well. I remember buying it on cassette when it came out lol
But I watched the video recently and hated it, because it just shows you how much of a egotistical b#####d Bono is.
If he was chocolate he'd eat himself. Like turning the Bat sign into his head with devil horns etc.

I know. It's a shame they cannot make good music like that anymore for the films. But I think it's more a case of not hiring the right people. A good song associated with a film can really promote the brand to the masses.
I get what you're saying but in many ways I wish songs wouldn't necessarily be so tied in with films. As a general thing. Obviously it's hard to watch, say, a Quentin Tarantino movie without some obscure 70's songs thrown in. He's really made a film career out of music (surpassed only by Cameron Crowe in that sense).
But in general? I dunno. I'm not with that. It worked for BR because FTF is so closely tied in with some of the themes and characters but I never really saw the relevance of the U2 or Seal songs with BF... other than a promotional tool, that is.
As for U2... yeah, every time I see Bono with those damned glasses, I want smash him in the head with a brick.
As a sidenote, the Watchmen trailer had the Smashing Pumpkins The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning (a song from Batman & Robin, of all things). I've been a Pumpkins fan for a lot of years and I've also always had an interest in Watchmen but it never really hit me how close TBITEITB is to Watchmen. Whatever doubts I had about that movie's ass-kickery was pretty much obliterated after that teaser came along. So I guess the point is that songs in film (or teasers) rocks when it's good... but it sucks when it sucks.
Seal's album with the Kiss From a Rose track was the first CD I have ever owned. Yeah, it might just be up there as one of my favorites for sure.

Bono! lol
I totally agree with what your saying Tho there are some great movie songs over the years created for movies. Ironic thing is the ones not created for the films, but in the movies say because they were set in a certian time period are the most successful....
(Re: songs in movies)
Yeah, I agree. Watchmen, The Matrix movies, Iron-Man.. I particularly enjoyed Favreau's choice of track for Iron-Man's trailer ;D
When it comes to Watchmen, back then I personally made the obligatory association of the Punpkins' "Beginning/End" track with Ozymandias' and NiteOwl's movie costumes.. Coudln't help it ;D But yeah, it's a great track and fits with the film.
"Scandalous" is one of the most romantic, deeply relaxing songs I've ever heard. More than once I've turned it on when I crawl into bed.

Really?!
How much music have you heard? In any case, I think you should expand your musical horizons. :)
That's nice.
Yep. How could I be so mean to someone so meaningless?

You should probably have pointed out that is a quote from BR incase KeatonBatman took offense from it ;)
Anyway, re Scandalous,
I hear you KeatonBatman.
Scandalous has bags of atmosphere. Any fan of Batman89 can't fail but be touched by that atmosphere.
plus, and i'm no music expert, but it uses the same 7 note motif from Elfman's love theme.

Sure, it works well enough for Joker music. I just don't agree it's the most romantic, deeply relaxing song ever recorded in the history of man.
My favs are "Partyman" and "Trust". I love them! ^^
Trust and Electric Chair for me.
I'm really getting my jig on to Batdance lately, usually play it at least once a day at work, hahaha.
'Trust' is such an awesome song. It has such a joyful, upbeat feel to it and would certainly make a great song at any party, although I suppose it's kind of ironic that it's being used as the soundtrack to the build-up to The Joker's massacre of hundreds of Gothamites. Although whilst he's bopping along to the song on top of the float you're almost on The Joker's side. He'd be a fun person to hang out with if he wasn't such a homicidal maniac.
