With The Dark Knight coming out in a few days i was wondering if anyone thought it was kinda odd that they arn't bringing out a game on the movie it's strange if you think about it every other superhero type movie thats come out over the last 7 years or so has had its own game even Begins, so i found it odd anyway has anyone heard anything about why there not making one or anything at all about it?
And as sort of a second question if they were to make one what things would you like to see in it like take for example i would like to see:
-Take full advantage of the next gen graphics.
-Free roam around gotham instead of having just a basic level game like BB.
-Be able to drive the bat tank thing(i forgot the name)and batpod without having a chosen path.
-The batsuit thing again were once you finish the game you can play again in a different batsuit but instead of having all similar ones have the adam west cloth suit, keaton's batsuit 89 and returns, VK's forever suit and even Clooneys famous nipple robocop suit.
-Harder villians mabye even play as them.
Didn't Begins' game come out with the DVD release?
I enjoyed Begins' game, but on the whole, movie tie-ins are rarely good.
I would like to see pretty much everything you mentioned. And also, being able to you batarangs and grapling hooks where ever you wanted to.
Hummm might have i live in australia so if memory is right i think it came out around the same time as the movie but i can't be 100% sure. Yeah Begins is still a good game a little repetitive at times but good none the less and yes the batarangs and grapling hooks would be a nice touch ;D.
I highly doubt we will be seeing any TDK game on a next generation console at this stage.
After seeing TDK last night i really hope more then ever that they bring out a game now.
As do I, but I don't see this happening.
It is currently in development, but all the annoucements have been very down played becayse there aren't exactly rushing into it.
Woo Hoo to bad we have to wait a while though but oh well at least lego batman's coming out pretty soon lol.

Fine by me as long as they are putting a great deal of effort into it. GoldenEye 007 came out in 1997, two years after the 1995 film of the same name.
Most games in general are a waste of time, unless they push the limits of what electronic entertainment is all about (like Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear Solid 4 or Uncharted for PS3). Most movie/comics games are not even decent and serve as diversions for kids. GoldenEye (made by Rare, one of the best game developers of the 90s) is one of the few exceptions to this unwritten rule, the game moved forward the FPS genre. Be happy if a game is not released :)
I thought EA Games announced "The Dark Knight: Crusader of Gotham" for the next-gen. consoles about a year ago? Did this idea just vanish all of a sudden?

Outstanding. It looks like this is going to happen. It has been covered in total darkness until now. I'm surprised they haven't released it yet, though I am prepared to wait for quality.
Yes that's just awesome here's hopeing its not gonna be crappy ;D.
I hope it is free roam, in the vein of Assassin's Creed. How sweet would that be?
I'd love to cruise up the streets of Gotham in the batpod. 8)
Lol that would be good to see. Also they should have side missions i hate short games :-\.
A childish request, but they should also include the "Keaton car" and old batsuits as unlockable bonuses if you finish the game. :) However, I think it mostly has to do with rights, as far as I know Begins had generic action music and not Zimmer's score (or I might be wrong)
I hope that TDK game plays up the stealth card again. The more you work for the set up and scare tactics, the less fighting you have to do. However, unlike Begins' Game, they should develop a system where you can do different scare tactics that lead to different levels of panic depending on which you choose or better yet, you could set up chains of events that lead to a bigger reward and make a 'reputation level' more relevent. The thing that killed me about BB game wa that you had to do the exact same stealth moves to achieve your goal. Really hurt the replay value. Aside from that, the between game cutscenes and the extreme shortness of it really made it nothing more than a movie cash in...like it was just a promo of the movie.
I think that including video footage from the film between levels is simply stupid and lazy, like going back to the first CD-ROM games from 1994-5. Story sequences should always be done in the game's graphic engine like Metal Gear Solid 4, to fit seamlessly with the game itself.

Well said. I hope they keep what made Begins good and improve greatly on what it lacked or executed poorly.
first off all sorry if my english is poor...
about the tdk game is not beeing yet on shelves :
Pandemic (the company that was devoloping the game since a year ago) failed to respect WB times => consequence ...WB said never mind....and gave the developing to another studio , probably they will build it on a rush since times are what they are .
It was reported afew days ago that there will be NO TDK game. It was on BoF but initially reported on one of the game sites.
making a related succesfull blockbuster movie game , even if a bad one , is a great chence for maximizing profit$ (the are never enough) , i dont think that they wont make one , at least i would say i hope you are wrong :) , but i would bet if WB gave to "Terminal Reality" (the ones that did nocturne 10 years ago , and developed the upcoming ghostbusters game) instead of EA games , it would be certanly a better one to see.
QuoteIt was reported afew days ago that there will be NO TDK game
Oh that's abit sad with all the technology in games now it could have been a seriously good game had they put there minds to it.
Oh well next year is the 20th anniversary of another exellent Batman movie i would much rather see a next gen game made of it. Come on who doesn't want to play as Michael Keaton free roaming around an awesome Gotham city taking on Jack Nicholson.

Sorry I can't resist any longer.......
......the video game did have generic action music........so it could have been Zimmer's score ;D ;D
LOL
I was thinking the same for a moment- then again TDK's OST is really good, IMO.
some games based on movies were released after 1,2 or 3 years after there movies , i believe we still have a very good chance to see the tdk one
also considering that some movie games had some remakes like whats happening with ghostbusters now beeing released on xbox360 and ps3 after 25years , and other remakes like "Resident Evil 1" we may have some hope to see some new game for batman89 and if in gets a good market , why not even BR one too ?
by the way did someone see batman:arkham asylum game , i believe its pretty good game and dark too, its realistic and have nothing to do with vengeance animated series . . . .
let me know what you think
I thought people might like to see this video I found on YouTube:
It's a The Dark Knight game intro and cutscenes made to look like an 8-Bit NES game by Sunsoft.
The Dark Knight video game for 8-bit Nintendo (NES)

I love the Two-Face bit. Feels like a classic horror movie.
That was great!
That video is awesome, great find, I really did enjoy that alot.
LOL that's awesome.
That was splendid.
I doubt we will see anything from TDK on a console. It's too late now.

Ya its pretty much a fact now, were not getting a TDK themed game for consoles.
I am sure we will have a tdk game after sometime from now , i'm going to save the link of this page too so i can post it back in a new topic when the game will be released
Has anyone seen this interview between Gary Oldman and G4 about the game?
http://www.youtube.com/v/nUsJAc5cycA&hl=en&fs=1
Thinking about The Dark Knight, the game could feature Gordon as a playable character in the chase scene. You could drive around Gotham in the armored prisoner truck and be a occupied with taking evasive action all the time.
i think that video was filmed before the break-up between WB and the first studio that did not complete the development of the game
but i dont believe that anyway WB will miss profits behind a successful movie like this not making for it a game
Its already been made official, there is not going to be a TDK themed game for consoles.
Damn it i would give anything just for a perfect Batman game for next gen consoles, without doing and being the same old thing over and over.
Its already been made official
if so do you have a link that says so . . . . .
Go over to superherohype.com theres plenty of them, and to all of you waiting for a perfect batman game, Arkham Asylum is looking to be the best batman game yet.
Is this because they cannot find a proper voice for the Joker? Also, they say no console game. Does this imply there's gonna be a PC game?

Who would want Ledger's Joker in the game without Ledger being able to voice him?
It's not unusual to have other people voice characters from movies in a game.
Heath Ledger provided a recognizable voice, which, if you look on YouTube many people can impersonate pretty well.
Yea, besides it was a rip off of the Lecter voice which I'm told I do a great impression. So, it couldn't be that hard to emulate.
And if worse came, why couldn't they just recycle his line's from the movie?.

Are you serious Lecter and ripoff? Maybe you should watch the film again, because I own every single "Hannibal" themed film and he sounds completly different than anything else ever done, especially Ledger's Joker.

Its not unusual, but with a performance that great, if someone tampered with that, they'd be outright stupid.

Excuse me, so do I, and it's clearly a Lecter impersonation with a deeper voice (IE Hedger deepens his voice in order to get to the American accent) but he still hits a higher pitch ("craZIER than usual") and the draw of it, the mannerisms, and the general voice are clearly Hannibal Lector. In order to do my own impressions of Lecter I've watched his scenes again and again. It IS a Lector rip-off.
And even IF you set that aside, "tampering with it" isn?t even an issue. It's been done numerous times in other licensed games. This is no exception. So they get somebody else. No biggie.
To you its no biggie, obviously in some way or other you sound jealous of what Ledger did in TDK, it is clearly not an impersonation of anyone else, but a brand new fresh take on a character we all love, and he nailed it right on the head for what he was going for. I dont really care what anyone else says, I can watch both TDK and Hannibal for instance and the only resemblance I see or HEAR is theyre both two crazy psychopaths with different agendas, they sound nothing alike to me at all ( other than their voices being softer in some spots and louder and gruff in others), and I know if we put up a poll on any other board or forum more people would agree with me than disagree.
Some people just didnt like what Ledger did, which is fine to me, everyone has their own tatse, but to say its a ripoff is pretty much showing you should probably go back, watch TDK again and then watch all of the Hannibal "themed" films, because the similarities are pretty slim to none. That or you just cant stand it enough to find bad excuses as to "why its not good".
Anyone that likes a game with an overdubbing of someone elses voice or character, obviously dosent care much to have things accurate, I for one am not that easily impressed. I want things exact, or I dont want them at all, getting a game with Ledgers Joker and not his iconic voice, now that my friend would be a ripoff lol.
I really can't find anything on www.superherohype.com and someone on this formum said that they just stated there are now new news about it
moreover i want to add that that no one can cancel i game for a missing "VOICE" there are huge profits around this!! what are you kidding?? , the game release date was temporarly moved because the studio (i don't remember its name) did not complete it within the times that was planned so WB gave the project to another group of developers , it may take i while before it will be released but that don't mean it will not be there, even in the past different movie games took some time to appear after there respective movies, same will happen here as some there was the problem mentioned above

Wow. You want to get personally insulting over this? Take it easy Nolanite, you don't need to slash my throat over it.
Anyone that DOESNT like a game with an overdubbing of someone else?s character must not like too many games because its done quite often, even in games in which the stars of the film lend their voice.
As far as being 'easily impressed,' who said I thought an overdubbing was the best course? Obviously if the star is able to lend their voice, it is preferred, but if the actor is DEAD, you can't do that can you? I don't think any performance so holy it can't be touched by a voice actor in a game, whether the actor is refusing to lend their voice or if their dead.
Please refrain from insulting me any further, Nolanite or I will report you.

I hope it's being moved back, but it's been so long since the movie came out that i don't like it's chance's, and on top of that we have that other AA Batman game coming out. So it's not looking to good.
Going by what Gary Oldman said "they are trying to get it to..." I would say the game was probably not very far into production and thus will probably never see the light of day.
When someone says the word "Nolanite" it only means your more ignorant than the silly term itself.
Locked cause i'm ****in sick of Nolan/Burton arguements.
