you are making a campain for the Danny Elfman's score re-realease, why not make a campain to sugest mattel and Dc Direct to realease a new line of well done action figures, like the ones Mattel Brought out: "The Dark Knight Movie Masters" Line. check it out, they are really cool, when i saw them i just wish that someday they made a Michael Keaton's Batman Action Figure with that quality.
the 20 aniversary is the perfect excuse to realese them, just imagine:
BAtman (89)
Batman (Returns)
joker
catwoman
Pinguin
(and it would be perfect to have Vicky Vale, Bruce Wayne, Jack Napier, Selina Kyle, Bob the goon, Max Shreck, too i now is much to ask for, but at least the first 5)
if they want to realese from forever and robin, i dont care, maybe i'll buy them jejeje.
please make this campain
greetings from Mexico
I can certainly set up a petition, but i need certain things
1. does anyone else agree that there should be one
2. who should the petition be addressed to specifically
3. detailed dimensions of the figures and accessories
4. a well written argument to post as the main letter of the petition
5. is there a real demand for these?
Theres a demand among collectors, thats for sure. Just read other collector forums. It would have to go to Mattell, you could possibly try to talk to Matt at LoG to see if we can pull together on this since he has contact info for Mattell reps.
Not a bad idea.
At the moment, I can't put another petition on the site, due to the way i set the first one up. i am re-working it at the moment, so once its sorted i can set one up.
I don't think this is something that anyone but DC Direct would bother with. They're a manufacturer for collectors, really. Mattel would have no interest. Kids aren't interested in a bunch of old adaptations. They just want the new one.
Even at that, I don't think this would happen. Well-loved as B89 may be (BR is more of a very cult classic), the market isn't big enough, I think. Whereas something like remastered Elfman soundtracks appeal to a wider audience (general Batman fans, soundtrack/score enthusiasts, Elfman fans).

agreed
but those figures done with the same detail as those bb/tdk would be one hell of a ride.
This is really a great idea! I wish someone like Todd Mcfarlane could get the licence to do them. Can you just imagine the detail?
Hi . I am new here. Love ur idea.. I would like to have that for a long time. But please let me express one thing: we bat-fans are WAYYYY too easily satisfied. Look at the toys over the years... they SUCK big time. (the good ones are the dark kngiht colletion and the batman returns line.) Yes the movie masters are a big improvement but there's lack of accessories, as well as proportions problems. They need to get this right . DC direct is really doing a poor job. Look at the TDK figures taht they put out. Those are ridiculous, considering they shuld have the most resources of the costumes, characters, etc. The comic line is much better, but they are more like statutes than anything else (lack of joints). It's way too easy to rip bat-fans monies off. I hope you guys will agree with me. If not, I would show some prove too thx guys for reading
I just wanted to bring this up. At SDCC, Mattel said that they plan on doing figures based on the past Superman films for the current Movie Masters line.
Why???
what's sdcc?
do you have a link? ;)
Never mind
http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=10&itemid=13257 (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=10&itemid=13257)
They plan to re-design the DC Direct website soon and do things like polling and be more interactive with the fans. hmm..... ;)
SDCC is the San Diego Comic Con
and as for the Superman MM figs..I'm willing to bet that if those sell well enough ( and I'm sure that they will) the Burton Bat-figs will be next in line...and trust me when I tell you if people think that the DK MM figs are hard to get..wait until they make MM 89 and Returns figs!
I'd like to see a Batman variant of 89 called
'Battle Ravaged' Batman, who could come with a stand with a sculpt of part of a crashed batwing
I've been reading on the Superhero Hype Board that the Four Horsemen (the sculpters who did The Dark Knight Movie Masters) may be doing Movie Masters for the earlier Batman films in the same manner along with other DC Comics movies and television shows. Looks like we may be getting closer to having those figures.
As far as the B89 figure petiton is concerned, I'd be interested in a company like Hot Toys producing 1:6 figures but the little plastic ones just don't interest me anymore.
Response to the petition has been slow.
Has there been much promotion for it by members?
Honestly? I get tired of bringing it up on the other boards. Its constantly discussed on SHH, but if they dont come sign the petition, whats the point? LoG has about 5 regular posters over there, its really become a dead forum.
If ya think about it a petition is worthless unless you get hundreds of people to sign it. Whatever company makes them is not gonna care about a petition with 50 people or even 100. Ya gotta think HUGE numbers. ( Look at when "Family Guy" was canceled & the DVD sold like a million copies. The network execs woke up & re-grouped the show ).
If somebody created a website, where people could sign a petiton, then have all the many different message boards get behind it, then it might get enough sigs. Plus, people could use their MySpace, Facebook, blogs, etc...to get behind it also.
You have to imagine it like a political campaign where you need HUGE numbers to win. The toy company probably want to know that if they do make it that it will sell really well. 15-20 crybabies wanting a certain bat-figure isn't gonna cut it, ha ha!
Sorry to be harsh, just trying to be real.

You are right.
Yeah, Tom you are right, but you never know unless you try.
I would give anything to get my hands on some newly designed figs from the burton films and so on, that would make my day!
Finding 89 items really isnt that difficult. There are some collectors on here, myself included, that may be able to help you out with something specific that you are looking for.
That would be great, but my problem is funds, Ive been broke since I lost my job.
Judging by the trend of things, the guy who said this would likely be a DC direct thing is definitely on to something. In recent years DC direct has released more and more figures that are further more unique in nature. Ex. Frank Miller's Batman animations have taken at least two figurine forms thus far that I own/know of. This includes the relatively new Allstar Batman figure.
I imagine that if this is going to happen, and might I add I believe it could and will happen, it's going to be a DC direct 20th anniversary deal. I mean petition or not, this film has held up for nearly twenty years now. With that being said, the film was obviously a fricken marketing machine. WB surely is aware that the market still exists today seeing as the film is still immensely popular.
The twelve inch petition is bold, admirable, and very much in high demand from fans like us. However, realistically, a typical 6-8 inch size with props is what DC direct would likely be looking to put on the shelves. Besides they know that people like us will buy it no matter what it is, hahaha.
I almost don't want to say this because it would be a dream come true, but the thought of McFarlane Burton Batman figurines, along with twelve inch variants would be the ultimate culmination of action figure culture and these awesome films.

This is the exact figure Ive always wanted!
You know, I had actually forgotten about it!
Such a petition needs more exposure.
Well maybe someone was listening...
New Keaton 89 Movie Masters Figure announced....

(sorry to direct to other board)
Bummer
What a lame! Fake! :-\
Well, I read in somewhere that Mattel has some plans for a MM Keaton Batman for 2009... I will look for the source. ;)
This frickin sucks, I was really excited there for a minute! ??? I really do want one of these figures, and I think we should get a BR batman too, I want figs for all the past batman films, especially a sweet Arnold Mr Freeze fig, YESS!! lol
I think this is going to happen, it has to!
I would love to sign the petition, but I can't find it. In the past year or so, there has been a trend of releasing "throwback" figures meant for collectors and kids alike. Power Rangers started a new line last year and I hear T.M.N.T. will do the same. Even more promising are the aforementioned Superman movie masters rumors. S.E. figures for ALL FOUR Batman films would most likely be a success with the 20th anniversary, blu-ray release and growing popularity of The Dark Knight. However there is strength in numbers, so if the petition was highly publicised. I think we would have a better chance at getting the Mattel execs. attention.
