These buildings remind me of Burtons batman. Both areas are very dangerous and I would not suggest going in there.

Those are great photos! Ideal locations for a movie...or a fan-film!
Great idea for a thread eledoremassis.
That "Palace" pic is like a still from a BTAS episode. That image even looks like Joker.
Nice find, eledoremassis02!
Anton Furst used many real-life buildings as the basis for Gotham. Here are a few examples (sorry about the big file sizes).

Great stuff GBglide.
They put a lot of work into the design of Gotham. That being said, it payed off. There's always some part of a city that reminds you of Gotham, in the city near me, it's a bunch of tall old buildings, with a tall church being the centerpiece.
The Colonel Ward Pumping Station in Buffalo, NY comes to mind.
And most of present-day Detroit. There is so much grandiose architecture crumbling away there it makes a preservationist sick. Hudson's is already gone, the only department store that must have been grander than Shreck's. Brush Park, the old Packard plant, the Michigan Central Depot...
Quick unofficial poll: Who here admires both the set design of Anton Furst/Burton's Batman movies and also admires old, crumbling architecture? Just musing. I do.
There's a beauty in decay, arguably. Personally, my favorite fictional place I think, ever, is the Gotham Cathedral of the '89 film. So hallowed and haunted. Desolate, quiet and eerie. A sad symbol of a city that's left its faith behind and a crumbling beacon of hope.
So yeah, I think I hear ya there, Pigeon.

No doubt. Sad is happy for deep people.
Edit: I feel the same way about Penguin's sewer lair.
Pigeon, have you ever been to the Guardian Building in Detroit? It wouldn't fit in Gotham because of its use of bright color, but it is an unusual building. It makes me glad to see it in such good shape.
A building in bad shape has its appeal, but always makes me sad because it's just that much closer to being demolished.
2 badly photoshopped images I was using for 2 drawings I was working on but I don't have the strength right now for it lol
