Use this thread to post your ideas on how to mark the 20th anniversary.
Big or small - size matters not. ;D
There's really nothing we can do. Except all watch it together on the birthday.
I mean, any organizing of fans for a viewing would be too limited in specific scope, seeing as many of the board's members are in the UK.
It would be nice if WB would do something, but I don't think it matters in light of the fact that it's "yesterday's franchise."
Here's my write-up on BOF http://www.batman-on-film.com/batman-70-announcement_pjwares_4-15-08.html
I will be pursuing as many B89 crew members to interview as possible and I really want to organise a mini-convention here in the UK. Honestly, that's what I'd like to see. A load of fan get-togethers all over the world.

I thought most were in the US. In fairness though, it is probably easier for UK'ers to meet up given the distances involved - still might involve plane journeys though.

Most likely, but if you don't ask you don't get. Who would have predicted the the amount of Blade Runner re-releases - the attention (and continued attention i might add) to the Christopher Reeve movies.

Yes, but, S:TM isn't getting anything from WB for it's 30th anniversary. So what does that tell you?
What did it get in 2001? What does that tell you.
There is still the possiblity of something else for SII despite the Donner release.
Have some faith.
Besides this thread is not about getting anything from Warners. It's about doing something ourselves to celebrate 20 years of Burton's Batman.

Damn. There goes my idea.
Been there, done that......
I keed, I keed.......
Or do I? :) ;D
Hey! I have an idea. We can have a raffle for PJ's new Jacket!! ;D

You know, since we've been talking about replicating those Joker patches, it would be cool to have anniversary patches made up for Batman 89. However, this may be a problem with copyright issues. Depending on how we do it.
I actually had a design idea in mind for that, that wouldn't break copyright.
Maybe this is a do-able idea then? Id be in for it.

I'm sure this site probably breaks numerous copyright laws itself (tell noone) with the pictures on it!
There have been showings in theatres for Batman, just recently in the UK too. Im not sure how all that works though.
Yeah the British Film Institute showed B89 and BR as part of their Tim Burton season in December, I went with Gary (89Batman) on my birthday and with my GF the weekend after. Only saw B89 though, couldn't squeeze BR in too.
Well, that gives me some hope that we might see it here in the states then. I may contact a few theaters just to see what the chances are.
So what have we got so far?
Screenings, certain prequel, memoribila displays, possible signings. Any other ideas?
I wrote a blog on the main site to help promote this. I will soon be adding banners to make visitors aware.

I would like to do something for B89's 20th next year. I just haven't come up with an idea yet.
I'll watch them both for the anniversary. It would be amazing if was re released on the big screen. Won't happen, but would be magical just the same.
The fanfilm prequel to B'89 is coming out next year on the anniversary of B'89 so that should be pretty cool.

If PJ ever finishes it. :P
I would like to help with the 20th year celebration in anyway I can. I have a Batman website and would love to be part if this. I think organised events would be great!
Chime! Chime! ;D
Hi David, (nice site btw)
Where are you based? At the moment its hard to organise anything, because nobody knows the numbers that would be involved. Hopefully after TDK comes out and the hype and excitement dies off everyone will focus on B89's birthday.
PJ Wares has a few ideas for celebrations.
Any suggestions from yourself?
Hello!
Thank you, I've worked very hard on it.
I'm in Arizona, USA. I have a great idea, but I don't think there is ANY way we'll ever get it off the ground.
I was thinking we could rent a theater for a showing of Batman. The problem: TOO MUCH MONEY!! : (
If only we could get the WB in on this.

My own thoughts too!
I investigated this at a cinema here (and i think the same would apply anywhere), the costs involve covering the price of seats (average ?500, $1,000) and renting the print (?200, $400).
If you can get enough bums on seats then the price works out at $20 per person. Some cinemas might even be prepared to give a rebate on the price depending on the numbers attending.
They only way to make it happen is to raise awareness. Banners on your site and topics in your forum.
Also, are there any cinemas that play old movies from time to time around? Propose the idea that Batman will be 20 years old next year as something to tempt them to show it.
Yeah, the cost would be high.
I'm going to try and raise awareness on my site. Is BOF helping with this?

PJ, who is the UK editor for BoF, wrote a piece on the site. Jett, owner of BoF, reserved a web address (i forget what it is now) - but not much is being done at the moment. They are quite busy with TDK stuff i would imagine.
Here, wear a button ;D

Sorry, I've been busy this week.
USA, Mesa Arizona.
We can roam all around, in batsman's costume, also with champagne. It is not possible for us to watch B89 in big screen. So what? We will watch in our hometheatres.

I am planning to head over to see them at some point this year (as part of my 89 celebration) and have emailed them asking for more info.
Anyone else know of any displays? Post the info here incase others are not aware!
Hey, shot in the dark--is there any way we could get Michael Keaton or anyone from the first movie to join us for a chat within the year? :D

That would be awesome - if anyone can arrange that I can host the chat! ;)
Getting Michael Keaton would so awesome, Im sure there's someone floating around out there that has his email. But i've heard he's a very private man and hardley even gives out autograph's. So fingers crossed he will do it :D.
This would be amazing guys!
Talk to the man who has been Batman years ago. ;D
