I might be assuming too much here but the stuff that is previously unreleased implies music that is not on La-La Lands release.
FSM, you have some explaining to do! Haha. Just kidding. Their release has plenty of material that isn't going to be part of this release, but damnit, man, $500 bucks for all of that?! I WANT IT, but my wallet says, "NO WAY!!!"
Hm. It looks like there is still a bit of unreleased B89 material to be had.
I don't know how, but I am definitely getting one.
We didn't have access to Elfman's personal material. Even if we did, there wasn't room for it on our CD of Batman. For this set they are using the same materials we had for the CD of the score as it was the very best that could be found.
For Batman Returns, again we didn't have access to Elfman's tapes. It is my opinion though that everyone will like the final package we have put together for this title. I'm thrilled with it.
I'm looking forward to hearing the demo material in this new box set. I'm sure it will shed further insight into the creation of these iconic scores.
I wonder if their Batman music has also been remastered. I suppose even if it has, it wouldn't be the same remastering that La La Land put out.

If I may ask, how far are you into the process?
And if possible, could you give a brief analysis of what you and your team have done so far?
Oh, and what's still left to do.
All of the major work is done and hopefully it can go to manufacturing soon.
I'm very happy with how it all came together and I think you all will like it, too.

I take it the cover will be the original 3 faces poster, with the expanded archival collection border around it?
I've been thinking about this box set and I can't help but feel that this is a big screw you to all of the "working class" Elfman fans out there. FSM seems to cater to the "super rich" only, perpetuating that elitist crap that results in things like Predator always being $300 and up on Amazon and Ebay.
Thank God for La-La Land. They at least make their product affordable; and at most make dreams come true with these Batman releases. CarterofMars, Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the kind words, but some clarification is needed here. The Elfman box set is not being released by Film Score Monthly. It's not being done by any of the specialty labels. Also, I work quite a bit with FSM.
And Predator was never released by FSM. Varese put it out first and then Intrada put it out this year. Both times it was priced at $19.95.
The problem with the set is that it forces you to buy the zoetrope, book, DVD, etc.
Don't get me wrong--those all seem really cool--but I really just want the music. Had the set been just a bunch of CD's with a small book (like the FSM Superman release) that would have surely knocked the price down by at least 100 dollars.
One would think the set would be re-released in some form or fashion, as either a CD-only release or perhaps on Itunes.

My mistake. I thought I saw some comments about the Elfman/Burton set being FSM.
Look carefully though and you'll see that I never said Predator was released by FSM. I was using the Predator releases as an example of the things that infuriate me about collectors. As for the initial price of 19.95, they both sold out within hours of their release time, and the prices quickly sky-rocketed afterwards. Check Amazon and Ebay and you'll see what I mean. Yes I know that it is the collectors who jack the price up, but this upcoming box set seems geared to these kinds ofcollectors instead of us "regular" Joes.

FSM is the subject of that sentence, so your intent wasn't clear, but getting away from the grammar...
This box is a unique gift item. Only 1,000 are being made, so I'm sure it will sell out quickly anyway.
Gotta love La La Land. Not only do they put out amazing scores, but they're also priced in the affordable range.
I just recieved the Collector's Edition Bonus Disc 17 in the mail today, courtesy of Warner Bros. I am listening to it as I type. It is autographed by Danny Elfman himself. The cd is like a Burton/Elfman version of Music for a Darkened Theatre. It is a special compilation of the Main or End Title Music from each of the 13 films in the collaboration between Danny Elfman and Tim Burton. Here is a Track List.
Collector's Bonus Disc 17
1. The Danny Elfman & Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box Suite
2. Pee Wee's Big Adventure- Main Title/Bike Race
3. Beetlejuice- Main Title (with Elfman vocal intro)
4. Batman- The Batman Theme
5. Edward Scissorhands- Introduction(Titles)
6. Batman Returns- End Credits
7. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas- End Title
8. Mars Attacks- Main Titles
9. Sleepy Hollow- Main Titles
10. Planet Of The Apes- Main Tites
11. Big Fish- Big Fish(Titles)
12. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory- Main Titles
13. Tim Burton's Corpse Bride- End Credits Part 2- Bonus Tracks from Bonejangles and his Bone Boys
14. Alice In Wonderland- Alice's Theme
Great stuff - I am insanely jealous!

Nice post, thanks for those!
I just recieved my very own copy of the Tim Burton & Danny Elfman 25th Anniversary Music Box Set in the mail today. I am so excited, I can't wait to listen to it and share with you all the details.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts...with baited jealously ;)
I've read that the worktape stuff is just synthesised versions of the score, much like listening to the Atari's arcade game score. No tracks of Elfman "singing" into the microphone. La-La Land's complete score release is much better.
Man, those guys have aged horribly in the 5/6 years since the SE DVD interviews took place, lol

I think Burton looks pretty much the same. He just needs a good shave.
I have finally finished reading the entire Danse Macabre book, and I have listened to every single piece of music that was included on both cd and USB. I will get into further detail later, regarding my thoughts on this music box set, especially Batman and Batman Returns. In the meantime, I figure that everyone would love to listen to the worktapes for Batman. So, I have uploaded them, here they are in no particular order, I will also upload Batman Returns worktapes and demos later. I hope you all enjoy.
On a side note, when you listen to Joker Flies To Gotham you will notice that the ending is a little more complete with a finished brass section unlike the (Film Version) presented in the La La Land Records cd release.

Here are the worktapes and demos for Batman Returns. For some reason, Penguin Theme III was not included in this music box set. Which was listed on the track information at the burton/elfman website.
Here is the link: http://www.burtonelfman.com/detail/cd5.html

These the full tracks? The music seems to cut off at the end. Is that like that on the CD? Also, Amazon says it comes out the 24th. Howd you get it?

I had ordered mine through the official website at www.burtonelfman.com way back in Dec 2010, during the first limited number collectors edition run of 1,000 copies which featured a bonus disc 17 autographed by Danny Elfman and official license certificate proving the authenticity of the music box set, I didn't receive it until April 2011, due to delays. Apparently, there is a second limited edition run of 1,000 copies that does not feature the autographed bonus disc 17 and won't be available until the end of May. Anyway, the music demos and worktapes of both batman and batman returns that I have uploaded are both complete full tracks. I know that the music seems to cut off at the end, but that is how it is presented on both cd and usb.
Oh true. Makes sense since it's worktapes. Thank you so much for sharing these!
Your Welcome.
